Apese Aito is a non-profit organization based in Turkana County, Kenya. We work with local communities, schools, religious groups, community organizations, youth groups and other organized groups to promote and safeguard the dignity of the girls. We exist to safeguard girls’ dignity. With dignity, girls thrive with confidence and become beneficial to their families and communities.
Girls in Kenya, particularly in Turkana, still face a lot of inequalities and challenges that compromise their ability to learn, earn and thrive. They are at a risk of dropping out of school, struggling with menstrual periods, sexual violence and early sexual initiation, early and unintended pregnancy, and early marriage.
Therefore, Apese Aito was founded to help the rural girls in Turkana with access to reproductive support, support with as well as empower them with after school mentorship programmes.
Equip girls with the right skills and knowledge enabling them to become the architects of their future.
To provide spaces for girls’ empowerment programmes necessary for them to develop into better adults full of confidence and self love
This year 2022, we are working towards opening doors for 50 girls to go and stay at school! By doing this, we will pass the torch of kindness to the next generation of girls to influence the future women leaders to care more about their community and take care of themselves to thrive and live a fulfilling life.
Our life skills training approach takes into account multi-dimensional needs of the adolescent girls in the rural Turkana. This includes livelihood skills training, provision of health services and counselling and support in all matters related to their growth and development – from deciding on further training, finding employment or deciding on marriage. The programme covers in-school and out-of-school, and married and single adolescent girls.
Our goal for the programme is to build a resource centre where youth and school going girls from the surrounding communities will be able to meet during school holidays for proper training and guidance by our team of educators and facilitators.
The centre could also be used for other activities like watching educational movies or videos, inspirational and motivational speeches from across the world. You can support this dream by donating towards the provision of construction material and other needs. We already have the land where the centre will be set up.
We organize regular mentoring activities, for school going and out of school girls, to help them envision their future and take the steps needed to make their dreams a reality.
We, especially, focus on hygiene, self awareness and identity. This programme is designed to guide, encourage and support the girls until we are convinced that they are now able to make independent decisions on matters concerning their lives.

We want to keep most girls in our programmes in school so that they can become useful and resourceful persons in the society. With this in mind, we intend to support 500+ girls with full scholarship from primary to secondary school.

Twice every year we would like to join together with other like minded youth groups, churches, community Organizations to arrange for community welfare Activities which ranger from: feeding the elderly and kids, visiting prisoners to pray with them, visiting the sick to pray with them, city cleanness collecting trash, organising Kids talent show forums, visiting schools and elderly hokes and kids orphanage with some food supplies with approval of County Governement and endorsement of village chiefs.
Find youth incentive volunteer activites for youth in the County to keep youth busy and produttive during school holidays
We create spaces and opportunities where rural girls can build their self-confidence.
We provide dignity kits, support education of selected girls by paying their school fees as well as building the skills of the girls and other vulnerable young women.
We give the girls access information that helps them grow their self confidence, motivation and self esteem which are important ingredients in building their character and personal identities.
We work with progressive individuals, organizations and local communities to advance the dignity of Turkana girls. Partner with us today and be part of the work we are currently doing in Turkana County, Kenya.
